Jan 29, 2013 · I replaced the knock sensor because after I got a scan master I noticed the car never showed knock even at WOT. One of the other members said to test the knock retard to tap on the block and it should show some degree of knock. Sensor 1 is before the converter, Sensor 2 is behind the converter, Bank 1 and 2 are typically used in V-configuration where Bank 1 is on the side Cylinder 1 is located. Some inline 6 cylinder engines have Bank 1 as Cylinders 1-3 and Bank 2 as Cylinders 4-6. The sensors are usually abbreviated as O2S1B1 (O2 Sensor, Bank 1)
Replaced O2 Sensor and still get Check Engine Light On. Hi Guys, 2 different shops did reads on my check engine light codes, I even paid $100 for one of them to do a full test of all sensors to identify which one was bad. If you have a standard economy vehicle, you can expect to pay anywhere from $120 to $500 for replacing your knock sensor. The parts cost will be anywhere from $65 to $200, while the labor costs will be anywhere from $50 to $350. In most cases, the parts costs and labor costs will be about the same.
The knock sensor senses the vibrations of the engine and will decrease acceleration until the sensor is replaced. With a faulty sensor, there is a chance that higher emissions are being produced from the engine because the engine may run hot. Denso Vs Delphi O2 Sensor
I was getting a Check Engine Light for a Knock Sensor. It was off an on for a few months before I took it to Honda. They confirmed the knock sensor issue, replaced the sensor and I have not had a CEL since they replaced it. Be sure you are using OEM parts.
About a month ago, while driving the car at about 90+ the cel came on and gave me a knock sensor code. It's an intermitten problem and so I changed the spark plugs yesterday thinking that might fix it (car had 41000 miles on it and the plugs were never changed at the car lot). The light went off...

The 'sensor' includes an approx. 25" harness to a square metal piece that bolts to the truck and has the connector to mate to the truck harness. Presumably there is a small circuit board in the metal piece. The block for the sensor at the back/top of the motor is on the LHS of the firewall. The block for the DPF sensor is frame mounted.

Had the check engine light come 0n, had the code read at O'Reilley, it was a P0332 (Knock Sensor 2 Circuit Low Input (Bank 2)) Yesterday I bought 2 new knock sensors and the dual connector wiring harness, installed, put it back together, running good. Drove it 10 miles yesterday and 45 miles this morning, check engine light is still on.The Knock Sensor, located in the engine block, cylinder head, or intake manifold, is tuned to detect that frequency. Inside the knock sensor is a piezoelectric element. Piezoelectric elements generate a voltage when pressure or vibration is applied to them. The piezoelectric element in the Knock Sensor is tuned to the engine knock frequency.

I had an issue with knock sensor after replacing the sensor three times. In my case, fuel filter was never replaced on my impala, and fuel line was clogged. 2001 Impala Other symptoms: Trouble starting Loss of power Trouble going up hills.

Knock Sensor Location Diagram. If drive around with the check engine light on when a code P0332 or a P0327 is set in the computer memory, engine damage could occur. To me the most interesting part about the knock sensor is that it only has one wire going to it. The reason for this is the sensor generates its own voltage and is case grounded.

Sensor 1 is before the converter, Sensor 2 is behind the converter, Bank 1 and 2 are typically used in V-configuration where Bank 1 is on the side Cylinder 1 is located. O2 sensor codes are often the most troublesome and misdiagnosed check engine light problems. It is my hope that this short oxygen sensor article will open your mind on the subject. There are other possibilities besides bad sensors that will set these kinds of trouble codes.
Knock sensors are used to detect vibrations produced by detonation. When the PCM receives a signal from the knock sensor, it momentarily retards timing while the engine is under load to protect the engine against spark knock. The EGR position sensor tells the PCM when the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve opens (and how much).
The car was constantly retarding timing and hesitating on the drive home. The CE light also occasionally flickered; it kept going out for a split second and then coming back on. This evening North and I pulled the knock sensor which was filthy and corroded, scrubbed the corrosion off the block, and replaced it with a brand-new knock sensor.
The Nissan 3.3l motors are also notorious for the knock sensor to go bad. What guys are doing is wiring 180 kw resistors inline with the knock sensors to fool the computer into thinking the knock sensor is good. I would suspect you could do the same thing it would just be a matter of figuring out what the resistance is of a working knock sensor.
Either there is still another issue causing the engine light to come on or you need to reset the ecu or possibly the the Knock sensor you put in is defective. I'd go with reseting the ecu first and to do that depends on the make of vehical.
And the first one of these is the bolt holes for the knock sensor.
