I deactivated all plugins one by one and found that Ocean Extra is causing the problem of Featured images not showing on the blog page after updating to WP 5.3.1. When Ocean Extra is deacitvated, the Featured images THUMBNAILS appear — but as these are not the full Featured image they look very blurry.
